Worrisome News About The Flu Just Surfaced In North Carolina
The CDC is reporting 17 flu-related deaths in the state of North Carolina that occurred last week.
Those fatalities are the largest peak so far this year, bringing the total to 83 deaths across the state.
The N.C. Division of Public Health keeps a record of all flu-related deaths between the months of October through May.
The best defense against catching the flu is to get vaccinated. If you didn’t get your flu shot this year, another way to minimize your risk of coming down with the illness is to wash your hands frequently.
Symptoms of the flu include:
- A body temperature of 100.0 or more
- A sore throat or cough
- Headaches, chills, and bone pain/body aches
- feeling queasy or vomiting
If you have the flu, you should quarantine yourself until you recover from the illness.
