After announcing their reunion tour this week, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel held a secret pop-up show in NYC to start off their tour Wednesday night.
The hip-hop/R&B group wowed fans at The Rooftop at Pier 17 venue in New York City per NME.
Per the outlet, the trio played a nine-song set featuring songs from The Score including their versions of Lori Lieberman’s “Killing Me Softly With His Song” and the Bob Marley & The Wailers classic “No Woman, No Cry,” which closed the set.”
According to a concert-goer on Twitter, the show started three hours late but was “totally worth it” seeing the Fugees. Rolling Stone reported that the location of the concert, announced alongside the tour on Tuesday, was kept under wraps from the general public until attendees received ticket confirmation from Global Citizen just hours before the show’s doors were set to open at 6 p.m.
The group will take their tour across the United States, then hit overseas in London and Paris, and then into Nigeria and Ghana this November and December celebrating the 25th anniversary of their album The Score.
Here is a list of the tour dates. Check out fan reactions from the pop-up last night.
As soon as she touched the stage I caught that good art chill! Fugees 25th anniversary preview was special. pic.twitter.com/3qJ4tRgkzd— Jesse Kirshbaum (@JesseKay) September 23, 2021
the fugees came out with a ten piece band. full horn section, backup singers. beautiful chaos. clef tried to get lauryn to do a freestyle but she told the story of how they met instead. we got all the hits from the score and "how many mics" and "zealots." still in disbelief tbh.— Craig Bro Dude (@CraigSJ) September 23, 2021
