Beasley Best Community of Caring – Mental Health Awareness

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, here are the facts about mental illness in the United States:

  • In 2016, there were an estimated 44.7 million adults aged 18 or older in the United States with any mental illness (AMI).  This number represented 18.3% of all U.S. adults.
  • The prevalence of AMI was higher among women (21.7%) than men (14.5%).
  • Young adults aged 18-25 years had the highest prevalence of AMI (22.1%) compared to adults aged 26-49 years (21.1%) and aged 50 and older (14.5%).

Over the next several months, the Beasley Best Community of Caring initiative will work toward increasing a deeper understanding of mental health issues.

Along with our partners, we’ll present articles, videos, podcasts and more that help fight the stigma often associated with mental health issues.

As a part of this conversation, we hope that through education and open discussion, misconceptions of mental illness will be replaced by understanding and a commitment to creating healthy communities.

Over the next several months, you’ll find an ever-growing online education resource right here.
